Convergence device that forgot it's purpose

byseanmcleary Feb 2, 2006

Pros Large bright screen, pretty good PDA functionality, syncs well with Outlook
Cons Horrible phone functionality, very large, issues with hardware buttons
Recommended it? No

The idea behind creating a phone and PDA combination device was that a person could carry only one device. But if your only cell phone thinks it's only a PDA, you've got trouble.

Why I Got It
When my Samsung SCH-I600 stopped working, I called up my phone insurance company and asked... Read full review »

Pros Built-in camera, call from your contact
Cons Verizon's plan is confusing and expensive
Recommended it? Yes

If you are looking for reasonably good Pocket PC Phone, this will be good one to consider. This phone is serviced by Verizon who has good coverage in rural area. Their internet service has reasonable speed compared to T-Mobile service. I pay $55 for sharing of 400 minutes of phone calls and... Read full review »

Pros Bright screen, speakerphone, voice dial recognition, 4 modes of "writing" and...
Cons Somwhat bulky, camera average, COMPARE with version that has 2003 CE (free)
Recommended it? Yes

This phone has a killer screen - clear and bright. It has some things you may rarely use (MS Word and Excel - not really useful on a PDA). But it has some other great functions like the speaker phone (press the handset send signal AFTER the call has connected) which is clear and useful; the... Read full review »

Pros Good speed Stable Very rarely drops calls Good screen readability, even at lower screen...
Cons No Bluetooth (Next model has it) Case it comes with stinks Poor choices for keyboards
Recommended it? Yes

A couple points:

1) Pocket PC 2003 is now available from Verizon
2) Contrary to a previous review, it does have both speaker phone and a color calculator.
3) The extended batter IS a little heavy, but I can go 2 days without charging it. The normal battery still lasts a day with... Read full review »

First of all people... this phone does not have a color calculator, Internet Explorer does not work and it's not supported by Yahoo.com which prevents you from accessing your E-Mail and for the amount of more than $700, it's a pile of junk. Samsung, Microsoft and Verizon are all in this worthless... Read full review »

Pros All things in one, converged.
Cons All things in one, converged - lost when broken.

I have carried a PDA (windows based) for 4 years. A cellphone for 10 years (since I was 13. Both are necessary, unfortunately.

Well, I say I have carried a PDA for 4 years. In reality, I have owned one for 4 years, and carry it only when I travel. It is too big of a hassle to lug around... Read full review »

Phone or PDA? How about both?
by mwildey, Apr 21 '04

When I was looking to get a phone/PDA combo, I was looking at the Kyocera 7135, but ended up with this, and am glad I did. I've had this device for almost a year now, and have had very few problems with it. I am going to break this... Read full review »

Pros Large display, Camera, Sync Outlook, Word, Excel, play AVIs, MP3s, MPGs, Internet,...
Cons Slow Internet access unless you upgrade service.
Recommended it? Yes

I've had this PDA/Phone for 4 years and still love it. It's large for a phone but that's so you can see the display when you're surfing the net or using one of the thousands of applications available for it. The Internet speed is slow (14.4K) unless you get the upgraded service that is around 128K... Read full review »

Pros Heavy enough to use for self defense
Cons See above

I have had this phone for 15 months and I hate it. It took me 2 months to find a holster, and I never did find a good set of headphones for the thing. (No bluetooth)
It is hard to dial without the stylus, the voice recognition is pretty good, but that means that you get wrong number only 2 out... Read full review »

Pros I like the way it looks, color screen, it uses windows.
Cons Don't like numbers on screen & open PDA's too easy to bump.
Recommended it? No

I have had this phone for about a month now. There is so much to learn about it. I had it connected to the internet but it was extremely slow and I couldn't get it to do what I wanted it to so I disconnected it. The reason I titled this review possessed is that it has on several occasions phoned... Read full review »
