Excellent VCR, once you figure out how to use it
Pros
PRICE!!!, Features
Cons
Difficulty in initial use, poor owner's manual
Recommended it?
Yes
After just returning from living in Europe, where we had built up a large video collection, we were needing to by a multi-system VCR. When I first started shopping for them here in the US, I was in shock. The prices were huge ($1000+), or you had to buy other decoders, or multi-system TV's. Finally, I found the solution... the Samsung SV-5000 Worldwide VCR.
This VCR supports playback, conversion, and recording of VCR formats from around the world. Has a load of features of it's competing models but comes with a price of under $500.00. These were my selling points.
The VCR itself is easy to hookup to your TV, Home Theatre System, etc. Our only problem came in figuring out how to actually get the VCR to work. Unfortunately, the owners manual was not a big help so it meant a lot of trial and error. However, once we got ourselves straightened out the VCR has been outstanding. Actually, our kids (5 & 3) have already figured out how to use it so it shouldn't have been that hard.
For those who might be needing a VCR supporting multiple formats from around the world, I would highly recommend this model.
