Pros Good conversion and playback between formats
Cons Awful build quailty.. unit failed 2 times and needed repair
Recommended it? No

This unit was given to me as a gift and after less than 15 hours of use it broke down. This happened to be 13 months after it was purchased. Samsung customer service was no help to me at all. The build quality of this rather expensive unit is simply awful, with cut rate components from $80 VCRs... Read full review »

Pros I like the idea of it, but it should be better implementation.
Cons You can tray if have money enough.

I have bought it 2 years ago and it is dead now. The problem in power supply, I guess. Also, it was always white traces on the screen. Samsung doesn't provide any information about repair on them website. Bad device, bad marketing with good idea. Read full review »

I bought the Samsung SV-5000W for really only one reason. I needed to record some PAL videos into NTSC tapes. I didn't want to pay alot for a vcr that would find limited use in my home. I was surprised to see how few PAL VCRs are available in the USA and that most were very expensive. The Samsung... Read full review »

I bought one of these machines several years ago to play my PAL tapes here in the US. After about 18 months it died. One day it just would not function. I had my brother, an electrician check the inside - fuse etc. which seemed fine, but it was still dead.
