2 hours later update still not finished Samsung BD-P1600

Pros says it works with netflix<br>I can return it
Cons fried it self first time it was plugged in.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I cant rate this any thing but terrible. It broke before it ever played a disc. Roughly 3 hours Ive waited for it to finish updating and no change.
So I saw this Blue Ray player at XXX where I work on sale for 149.99.  I thought it would be nice since I use netflix and it can stream netflix. I was aware I would need a usb ethernet adapter, that didnt bother me. What I didnt know was I needed a specific adapter, that apparantly cost 80 $ when I can buy a top of the line adapter for 50. So -2 right off the bat.
I plugged it in plugged in my usb dongle and what do you know it didnt work. (see I thought i was being smooth cause I had the dongle from my old tivo ) Luckily it includes an ether net jack and being the tech savy guy that I am I have a box load of extra cat 5 cables. What you should be gathering is I assumed I could get away with not spending more then 149.99 minus my discount......
As soon as I plugged in the ethernet cable a pop up , popped up and offered a firmware upgrade. Tantilized with new features I could recieve I opted to install this update. I work early so in hind sight I should have watched my movie and worried about it in the morning. It took over an hour to download on a 15mb connection. I started to get a bit worried so i began searching for input on the web and immediately began to regret my purchase. Every review I came to had the same 3 concerns. Updating it by network fails rendering the device inoperable... Audio lags on blue rays,  and it comes with a short lived 90 day warranty and numerous people reported it lasting within days of that 90 days, 95 93 97 etc. It costs 80 $ to have repaired.
Ive now been sitting here for 2 and a half hours. I design electronics and know how these updates work. I am reletively sure that my brand new device has fried it self. Litterally all I did was plug in the ethernet cable and hit ok to update it. Im sure its fried . I have the luxory of buying it from my job, which means I can walk in in the morning and return it and get my money back. THANK GOD I DIDNT BUY THE 80 DOLLAR USB ADAPTER.

If its more then 90 days since u bought it

Your warranty is expired and chances are it is going to fry.

If it is within 30 days of buying it, RETURN IT.
If it is within 90 days of buying it , ask the store you bought it from nicely if you can exchange it for a different product.

I will not be selling Samsung product at my job any further. Buyer beware .

I get to return it
