The Bottom Line:
Great product, Great brand, Great features, Great price. Only a few small problems but still very worth every penny.
I finally decided that it was time to upgrade my entertainment center from its almost prehistoric status. That meant a nice large LCD TV and a solid sound system but it also meant that I wanted a DVD/Blu-Ray player that would give me the most bang out of the system as possible. Samsung nailed it all! Get quality image, Netflix and Pandora radio. All from one box and all pretty easy to operate. I love the sleek design and touch sensitive buttons. It really is a well rounded system. Even the remote is modern, multi-functional, easily integrates with other Samsung products and looks good too. I found mine at Wal-Mart (even though they are evil they are tough to beat for electronics prices). At $250 it was a steal since Best Buy and Amazon were still charging over $350 for the same exact model. I've had it now for about 5 months and it's been good but there have been a few issues.
First, it has some strange issue where occasionally the audio on a regular DVD won't play, but if you go into the Language menu, select English (even if it's already set to English) and then return to the movie, it works. Not sure why, but it only happens occasionally, and might actually be my movies. Second, the Internet link to Pandora and Netflix is limited. It took me about 2 weeks and some reconfiguring of my router to get Pandora to work and Netflix is limited to only displaying your stream que, it can't actually add new movies to it. Finally, there isn't a real good way to get back to the main system menu from a disk, Netflix or Pandora. You basically have to shut the system off and restart it. Finally, maybe it's just me, but when I've got the sound system cranked it used to vibrate the player enough to make it skip very rarely. I stuck a few Sorbothane hemisphere pads under it and that's not a problem any more.
But that's about all for problems, otherwise it's been a great buy and I strongly recommend it. Just beware, the wireless adapter which you have to buy from Samsung costs $80 or more, so I opted to run an Ethernet cable for the cost of $10. These are going to keep dropping in price so look for a good low price and shop around. Samsung is also coming out with more and more features to these style players so list your priorities and then wait for the right price to come.
One final thought, I can still vividly remember the first night that I had this baby running. I watched James Bond: Quantum of Solice and after just the first 5 minutes I was convinced that I had made the right purchase.
