The Bottom Line:
The only phone I could find anywhere that answered ALL of my needs. Slide out keyboard, PDA touch screen AND a number pad on the front!
I am a long time PDA/Verizon customer. I loved my VX6700 other than one major pet peeve. I HATED having to dial the phone from the touch screen. It was an annoyance, plus was it unsafe in the car (face it, we all do it from time to time....)
The new i760 has all of the great PDA features Verizon offers, such as slide out keyboard and nice touch screen. The touch screen feels much more responsive than my 6700 or older models. The keyboard is smaller, but I quickly got used to this. The smaller size MIGHT be a problem if you have big chunky fingers, or just don't like change. It will take a few days to get used to the slightly smaller size. It is nothing like the blackberry type keypads, however! Those are way to small for my taste.
This phone does not have vcast capabilities, but that was not an issue for me. The camera is much nicer than other PDA's I have used, and has really nice features like sepia, black and white and the ability to save video as mms or regular video file. In my old phone I was limited to mms file size.
You can access more things from the main screen on this phone. For example, the messaging spot lets you quickly choose which TYPE of message you want to open and tells you right on the front how many unread e-mails, text messages, or mms messages you have. The front screen format seems a bit more "crowded" at first, but the colors are brighter and more "cool" as my kids would say. I do not like the fact that once you are in the text messaging screen you have to go to menu and then new to create a new message. Some of the PDA's let you create new messages just by clicking on the "new" button.
All in all, I am very pleased with this phone. I am very glad I made the switch and will not miss my old PDA. Feels sleeker, lighter and much more "cool" factor.
