Samsung SyncMaster 950 P 19 inch CRT Monitor

I used to have a 15" which suited my needs fine, but always fancied a 17" or maybe even a 19". But since I started using CAD programs, I knew that I would have to replace my monitor.

This is by far the best deal I found. I found this monitor for $450 Canadian with taxes. The dot-pitch is 0.26 diagonal (I believe), 18" viewable and has received good ratings from just about everywhere. The only complaint I have really seen about this monitor is sometimes people can't adjust the geometrics just right. I decided to go for it.

The graphics are excellent, the image is sharp, and the colours are great. The monitor comes with Colorific software that lets you adjust the screen colours to the light in your computer room. Very nice feature.

I haven't had any problems with the geometrics of the monitor, I set them up fine and they stay that way just fine (my 15" had a bad habit of "wandering" to the left when I turned it on each day). The only 'complaint', if you can really call it that, is that it's quite deep (compared to my 15"). It's about 4" deeper, but I expected it to be deeper, so I can't really call this a complaint. Although I'll just note I had trouble fitting it in the car. My passenger had to sit in the back seat on the way home because it would only fit in the front!

One other things that may turn people off, is that it's not as flat as many of the monitors on the market these days. It's certainly not a sphere, it is quite flat, but don't expect it to be completely flat.

All in all, I find this an excellent monitor, DEFINITELY worth the buy if you're on a budget and in the market for a big screen.
