The Bottom Line:
As good a 19" monitor as I can imagine, and one of the least expensive around
I just got mine today after trying to find one in stock for nearly 2 months, and it's everything that everyone says. I guess there are better monitors, but looking at this one I can't imagine what could be better. But the main reason I'm writing this is to say that I found it at CDW for $249 + $33 shipping, and it arrived in 6 days (including the New Year's weekend). I have no connection to CDW but am *very* satisfied.
I was told that Samsung discontinued this monitor before it was rated #1 by PC World; perhaps if they'd known the review was coming they wouldn't have discontinued it. In any case, the monitor is almost impossible to find, so if you want one, order it this second.
By the way, I'm running mine at 1152x1024 (85Hz refresh rate). I find 1280x1024 to be a bit small for my aging eyes. But this seems to be unrelated to the monitor -- the image seems very crisp at either resolution. I don't know whether all 19" monitors can do 1152x1024, but this one does it well and I find it a welcome compromise between 1024x768 and 1280x1024.
