I purchased one of the Samsung T240 monitors because I needed a new monitor for my small business that was a good quality (as Samsung has proven to me over the years) and had a low power consumption. For a price of just over $300, this is an amazing deal for a 24" monitor that will last for years.
The size is a comfortable size to work on, but they also have a smaller (20" & 22") and larger (25.5") versions. If you prefer to have a monitor that doubles as a TV, they also have the T240HD with builtin HDTV tuner. The resolution supports up to 1920 x 1200 pixels providing sharp images.
My business covers all aspects of computer animation and visual effects. These monitors have proven themselves to display crisp and clear images. The only downfall is that their colourspace is not 100% accurate. I would recommend these for most areas of the pipeline, except for areas that require colour correction and colour-specific tasks. This is not to say that they are bad - I just wouldn't recommend them for that use unless you spent time calibrating them properly. The viewing angle is not very large either, and the hue and tone vary drastically when viewing from the sides or top/bottom. The monitors are very bright (this can be adjusted), and after a period of non-use, they drop to 0.3 Watts of power consumption - helping our small business reduce our energy waste and lower our bills.
Also important is the esthetics of the monitor. The design is clean and professional looking, with a sleek glass-type layer on the front to make it shiny and expensive looking. The only thing that I would like changed is that it comes in a reddish colour, and that could become dated or not fit in with people's decor. I wish that they had a variety of colours or at least a plain black version as well.
After being more that impressed with my initial purchase, I have bought 4 more up until now, and I plan to purchase more!
