The Bottom Line:
Samsung's 17 inch monitor is a beauty. After over a year of service, this baby is still working like a charm. I highly recommend this monitor.
I always wanted to get a 17" monitor. I thought it didn't make sense buying a cheap but lame 17" monitor as I may have to end up buying another one soon after. Then I saw the Samsung 750s, a 17" Monitor, Flat screen for under $200 dollars. I had to buy it.
This Monitor came with a monitor cord (its permanently attached to it anyway), power cord, drivers and manual. First of all, the manual seems to be big but after investigation, I realized that it only contains about 10 pages of information because it is done in 6 different languages, but it is adequate enough.
The monitor was easy to install. Once out of the box and plugged in, windows automatically detected it and install the drivers from the provided diskette. This monitor has a 0.24 dot pitch and supports a maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024.
The monitor shows beautifully. There is absolutely no glare (Because of the flat screen), I have seen no streaks or lines on the display. This monitor is attached to a Creative Labs savage 4 pro and the graphic intensive games I have, like Midtown Madness or Freespace 2, the image is crystal clear. (Maybe my opinion on crystal clear may be different from yours as I am used to normal no-name brand monitors)
The monitor has 5 buttons on the front. There is the usual power button and there are the menu buttons. The menu allows you to change many settings, from brightness and contrast to Refresh rate and zoom. This is very easy to navigate through.
I have not been able to find anything bad about this monitor. The price is excellent and the display is great. I have not had to try the support yet, but if I do, I will be sure to update the opinion.
I actually had to contact support with a problem I had. They responded to me by email in about a day and solved my problem. The response was very accurate and friendly
The monitor also prevents itself from damaging. If, for example you set the resolution to beyond 1280 x 1024, then a screen saying " Sync out of Range comes up " This may first annoy you because you will need to boot into safe mode or something like that to fix back the resolution but this actaully prevents the monitor from damaging.
