Very good TV once I figured some things out...
Pros
Very nice video, tons of inputs, ease of connection to various devices.
Cons
Trouble connecting to my PC through DV-I, could only get Component to work.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
You should definately get this TV if the specs are what you're looking for. I tried a few slightly cheaper options and this was definately worth the little extra money.
I can't add much to the two reviews that are already here, but I want to add one additional fact in regards to gaming. As a test for this TV I ran "James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing" for XBOX through component connectors, and once I got to the main menu I noticed that bright whites tended to bleed onto blacks pretty noticibly, so that white text on black was too fat, and black text on white is too thing (so much so that it was difficult to read). I was pretty dissapointed and almost took it back, but through some experimentation at the store I found out that to get the TV to work in 480p mode I have to turn off 720p and 1080i support within the Xbox menu. Apparantly if it doesn't get the highest resolution it can, the xbox will default to 480i. It didn't just happen with this TV. The problem was discovered because in the store a very high end Phillips TV (that actually tells you the current resolution) was showing us the problem. Sure enough when I took my xbox back home with the 720p and 1080i settings turned off on it the picture was GORGEOUS on my Samsung TV. Now when it goes from xbox intro to the game there is a very noticible resolution change, and the text on the main menu (black on white) is now VERY readable.
I love my new TV and wouldn't even think of taking it back now that I know the xbox settings was the problem. It is worth noting as well that it is extremely easy to hook this TV up to your PC through component video, to the point where my video card allows me to select the resolution to output (tons of options, 480p, 720p, 1080i all among them) and I can even tell video clips to redirect output to the TV with one right click menu popup. The next time I booted up GTA: San Andreas it asked me if I wanted to play on the TV or the monitor (which was cool, tip of the hat to Rockstar Games) and Quake 4 and Doom 3 both look beautiful on this TV (although can only get them to play in 4:3 modes. I have tried on multiple televisions and am concluding it must be the video card's problem).
All in all, I love it. I've only had it a couple days but I wanted to be sure to post these details about the Xbox and the PC. Hope they helped.
