Holy TV Watching Batman, This Is A Real LED TV.
Pros
Lightweight, very thin and beautiful picture to fall in love with.
Cons
Very expensive, still new to the market.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I can highly recommend this to the people that do research first. Do not buy this on a whim.
These are the way of the future if you can afford them. These will set you back a pretty penny. You can usually see these at either Best Buy or Sears or even on line. For just a little under three thousand dollars you can have one of these babies sitting in your recreation room or living room to amaze your friends and family. If you think that this is a typo well you are wrong this is an LED TV by Samsung. What this means is Liquid-Emitting Diode, an electronic light source which was first invented by a Russian radio technician in the 1920’s
Description
You will wonder how they put all of that technology inside of some thing so thin. This TV is only a little over one inch thick and weights a little over 50 pounds. That is comparatively lighter than the older version of the analog TV’s. This is a beautiful flat screen with a glossy finish; it has a 2 ms response time and is a whole 55” of viewing area. You will probably never purchase another TV after you get this into your possession. The display resolution are 1920 x 1080 pixels, it also has a built in HDTV receiver. You are also capable of receiving 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i most of which are available in HDTV. This has both wide screen and full screen options, both which are 16:9 to 14:9 enhanced. The rear inputs and outputs are able to be plugged in by hdmi cables. Even though this TV is real thin, it still has three speakers, they are all located in the back and there are 2 regular 15” speakers and one subwoofer, but nothing will compare to this until you hook it up to a surround system. At first you do not notice any difference but when it connects to the surround system, the only word to describe the sound is “WOW”.
Experience
Once you get your new set at home the first thing that the deliveryman will want to do is to inspect and make sure that the screen is not damaged. After you choose where you want to set this up at then you will need to scan for all of the cable channels that are available to you. Do not let the salesperson fool and try to sell you any extra stuff that you do not need. If you have cable this set will pick up all of the channels that they offer to you without using a converter box. The regular co-axle cable can be hook straight to the back and you do not need a special HDMI cable to get a beautiful picture. The only reason that you need this cable is if you have a converter box, and that has to be a High- definition box for that cable to be affective. I was a fool for listening to the salesperson and bought into his excessive sales pitch, and bought these expensive surge protectors and all of those HDMI cables to boot.
I have had these for a few months now and love the two remotes that they sent with these TV’s. They will send you the regular size one that is somewhat easy to operate and understand once you use for a while, in the meantime you will probably use the other one a lot more, and it is a mini tear drop shaped remote. All that this mini remote operates is the On/off switch, and the channel up/down, and the volume up/down motions. As long as you do not mind surfing the channels one by one then this is probably the one that you will use. I like smaller remote tremendously, instead of the larger one. If you have Comcast cable, you already know what your remote will look like; it is identical to these cable remotes and will have all of the same operations. Once you hook up your new set you will have to let this set scan for all of the stations that are offered to you and this will take a little while to do it, approximately one half hour or more. You will be shocked at how many channels you will be able to pick up without a converter box, 200 or 300 channels will be available to you now that they have switched to High def. Once you set all of your settings, and this can be done with ease of the larger remote that they send you. Once these are all set you will probably only use the smaller one to surf.
You will be in total amazement, when you see the clarity of the picture that comes in on this set that is so thin, you will see everything just as if it were right in front of you in real life. They also use 40% less power than the usual LCD TV’S; if you want to go green then this is the way to go. Even though this has a sleep timer kids will still leave it on during the day but when they do, it will not hurt your pocket book that bad, when your kids like to keep leaving the set on for the furniture to watch while you are gone shopping. They do have other cheaper models to choose from and they are they the 6000, 7000, models along with the 8000 model.
Other features that come with this model will impress you, but you will have to run some CAT5 cables from your computer to get the internet (Widgets) on your set. If you hit the content button on the remote then a lot of icons will pop up and you can play games such as bowling and soduko or even saving the earth game. The gallery selection will let you be host to a slide show of wild animals and soft playing music. Another icon will be for the smaller children and there will be a cartoon character singing or telling them a story. The next icon is the cooking menu, which will have 9 different desserts, main courses, and drinks, and appetizers, to choose from. If you follow up on each of these recipes they will show you a visual step by step instruction for each recipe. If you like the WII then this has a fit program also without spending all that extra money for another game system. This includes everything from basic exercise stretching to hard hitting exercise.
There is a lot of technical stuff that they give and you will never be able to absorb it all. The manual is about ¾” thick and they also will give you a plug in flash drive so that you can be wireless to your computer and they also give you a disc to help understand your new set. They do sell especially thin wall mounts for this particular set, but I highly recommend that you hold of on purchasing these until you get this at home. You may decide to just put it on a stand; you have to be sure because once you mount it you are stuck with it in that spot. This set is very easy for one person to move around and it will swivel just enough for you to set it up in one direction then just turn the set to be at the perfect angle to watch.
Conclusion
Do your research before you purchase one of these, not only about the TV set, but about the place that you get it from. Do not let them take advantage of you by trying to sell you extra stuff. The more research that you do about this set or place that sells you this will be a plus. This way you will know if they are pulling your leg or not. This is an excellent set and you will be happy with the clarity and crispness of the picture, but do not expect a lot out of the sound unless you use a surround system.
