folder organization for audio books and other non-music files, uncomfortable free headphones included

The Bottom Line:
Get the Sansa Fuse not only for the sound but for the easily expanded capacity and well designed interface.
I really love my Sansa Fuse. I told my wife to get one that had a microSD slot, but the Fuse goes much further than that. The battery life has been amazing. I use it to play audio books during my hour + commute and it easily lasts all week. The folder organization for audio other than music does seem to be cumbersome, as it seems to not list entries that are not in the preset folders. Otherwise it is pretty customizable for louder volume (to work with the car stereo input) and reduced screen brightness (for better battery life).
Surprisingly, the integrated FM tuner was quite usefull during vacation at the beach.
The included USB interface cable allows for recharging and music synch, so a separate bulky charger is not needed. However, the included headphones are uncomfortable to wear for extended periods, so you will want to replace them for use during travel or just for better sound. Firmware updates are easily downloaded from SanDisk.com and if you apply the first one you will find that the power off setting is a little different. In general the interfaces like the recessed power switch and thumb wheel controll work well and their use was well thought out. (the switch design prevents accidental activation and the thumb wheel makes it quick to scroll to a selection or to raise the volume)
The relatively large screen is nice not only for showing the album art, but for seeing the list of selections more quickly as you scroll through your ever growing library. The microSD slot is HD compatible so you can easily double the unit's original 4Gig capacity to 8Gig and beyond.
