Hi I have had no problems with my little Sansui TVM1315. If you can find one used it is a great little TV. You just need a RF Modulator (box) and two lengths of coaxial cable in order to hook up a DVD player. But you can hook up a VCR by connecting the coaxial cable from the wall to the VCR then the cable from the VCR to the coaxial jack in the back of the TV.
I bought my RF Modulator from Zellers' Electronic Department in BC Canada. It can connect both a VCR and a DVD player at the same time. It cost me $12CAD in 2008.
note: the remote doesn't give you the time but it does everything else including captioning and text and automatic shut off sleep timer.
