I'm sorry I bought this
Pros
I was able to listen to some really great programming when it worked.
Cons
My Sanyo CRSR-10 broke twice in the first three months.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Save your money and get a better radio. Sanyo CRSR 10 is poorly designed, of inferior quality, and has a terrible warranty.
The Sanyo CRSR-10 is the most cheaply-made electronics item I have ever purchased. Buyers beware.
The car mount antenna broke within two weeks- the antenna wire broke where it attaches the the magnetic part.
So, I started using the home antenna in the car. This actually worked well for a couple months until the adapter broke.
This radio -which is all plastic by the way- uses a strange kind of adapter. The adapter accepts the antenna wire, ac adapter, and it has an output jack to connect to external speakers/headphones. Why they use this adapter is beyond me. It is very poor engineering. Why not have these jacks ON THE RADIO ITSELF and do away with the adapter? It also is all plastic and of inferior quality. There is a gold metal sleeve inserted into the center of the antenna input jack. Well, that part came out of mine. One day I unplugged the antenna and that little gold part came out with the antenna! Now the radio gets NO reception at all, because the antenna can't make a good connection.
The suction cup mount does not stick to the windshield well at all. -Not to mention the fact that I almost was issued a citation because it was "obstructing my view". Luckily, the officer let me off with a warning. The radio is too heavy to support with a suction cup. At least a few times each trip it falls off- especially in cold weather. I finally gave up and decided to attach my home docking station to the dashboard with 4 screws. This worked well, but now that the adapter broke, I wish I hadn't done that because I definitely won't be buying another one of THIS model.
The warranty of the product is arguably even worse than its quality. The customer is responsible for paying to ship the radio in for service. You can only send it to a Sanyo factory authorized service center. There is an 800 number to find out where the closest center is. And worst of all, you have to PICK IT UP FROM THE SERVICE CENTER! They won't even cover the cost to ship it back to you. They also reserve the right to give you refurbished parts or even a refurbished replacement. So after all that hassle and expense, you may end up with a USED radio as a replacement.
