Cons Broke form normal use. Not cool.

The Bottom Line:  There are better units out there that are newer and better made.
Ok, I came here. Read the reviews, actually the warnings, and figured, I take care of my stuff, they didn't. Well, I will admit I was wrong and I am sorry for not trusting the folks here.

The unit itself offers what looks like a good deal. It has the car and home hook up for a decent price. I got this in December of 2005. I got it with the boom box and with a $50 gift card. The deal made the price for the gift card at $40 and there was a $50 rebate, which took about 3 months to get back by the way. So paid a fair price for everything.

I'll talk more about the product before I go into my problem. The display is great, I have the unit on the suction cup car holder, but I jam it into a storage bin under my car's stereo. On the glass is no good to me, it doesnt want to stay. The big display of the song and artist is great for a quick glance. The button layout takes very little to get used to and although it says 20 presets, I only use the 10, since I have to hit another button to get to them. The audio level is decent and adjustable. It doesn't feel soild, I usually buy Sony products when ever I can, so I am used to them. Overall I was pleased with it.... untill....

I put the antenea on the trunk (I didn't want to hide the cord in the back windshield's molding to have on the roof) and since I drive 2-3 hours one way to work, it is great. Music and Stern are wonderful and the NFL is a dream come true. Finally good sports talk. Any way, I would take the unit out of my car anytime I parked at work for the day, and at home at night. The unit connects to the antena line and the power line to what is called the adaptor. The adapter is a U shaped piece of plastic that everything is plugged into it. I would remove the unit from the adapter (instead of pulling out the cords from the adaptor).

After a few months I noticed the unit would power down after hitting a bump in the road. It would kick back on. Soon it was more frequent and I would have to push down on the adaptor to make a connection to the unit. I finally called Sanyo. Since the "accessories" are on a 90 day warrantee, I had to order replacement parts from a distributor. At $13 to $15 a piece I ordered 2 to save on shipping. I figured this could happen again.

So far no problems untill this weekend. I stopped unplugging it and just leaving it in the car for the past 3 weeks. Good as new. Untill today. I took it out to listen to the boom box (hey it was the NFL Draft!!) and on the way to work it started again. I could do very little to get it going again.

What do I do? Cut my losses? Well I think I will try to see how another week goes, although I would rather listen to static than free radio. If I still have trouble I will put this unit in the house. I took advantage of an offer for a free (different type) unit from Sirius to go between both cars. Maybe use it while I see if I can get the unit repaired, since it, not an accessory, could faulty shot.

Overall- besides taking the unit from the car to the house, its is decent. But what good is anything if the unit doesn't power up.

And on a side note, once you have Sirius radio listening to anything else is an insult. Commercials and musics- please, how pathetic. Stupid yokie DJ banter, no thanks. Lots of music, lots of talk, LOTS OF NFL, people talking like adults --- you get it all from Sirius.
