Sanyo VWM-950, has poor picture quality...!

Grainy/weak picture, faint lines, colors not true, small remote keys/labels. Difficult to program.

I bought this as a back-up to my older Sanyo VCR (that still works good).
This new Sanyo is JUNK! Grainy/weak picture, faint lines, colors not true. Programming was cumbersom, and slow!
To be sure?- I tried recording with my old Sanyo, on the exact same connections. Picture was nice & clear!

It's getting hard to find a good VCR anymore! Any suggestions?
