Cute, small, but somewhat useless.

Pros Size, cordless, compass, mounting options.
Cons Range, lack of backlighting, no pop protection, limited rear coverage.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Go for a different product. Sorry - I really wanted this one to work out!
I was really excited about this detector. It had all the features I wanted AND got pretty good reviews from radar-detector.com. The only thing that they complained about was the windshield mount.

I quickly learned how to use the windshield mount; actually I kind of like how this feature works. The batteries are in the windshield mount vs. the detector to keep the size extra small.

First I set up the compass - pretty cool feature. It looks like your grandpa's old floating compass that sat on the dash of his big sedan except it was a digital display.

OK, all that stuff, plus the price at Best Buy ($136 on sale), was the good part of my review.

Now for the not-so-good...First of all, this detector has not lighting at night. You have to push the backlight button to see anything on the display (unless and alert goes off). This is pretty inconvenient. I'm sure it saves on batteries, but you kind of want to see the display!!!

Second, the range of this detector is not good at all. I came straight at a cop with a KA gun and the darn thing didn't go off until I was less than 500 feet away.

Needless to say, with the range and the backlighting problem, I took the detector back. I really hated to part with the sleek, small, silver bullet. I traded it in for the new Cobra XRS-9700. We'll see how that one works out. If it's no good, I guess I need to fork over the $300 for a Passport X-50.
