The Bottom Line:
Not really worth it, even at a good price.
This detector actually does work. It's a really nice, small design and has some well thought out functions and programming. False alerts are fairly limited... the bad news is that the range is far too short to do much (if any) good.
I generally get a visual on the cop at about the same time as the detector goes off. All in all, you are far better off to just keep on the alert when speeding.
My lesson learned: If you are going to buy a detector, don't even consider buying anything but the best. If you don't get the best, you are better off going without one. Here's why:
1)If you do get pulled, you always have a shot at getting off with just a warning...a cop is not going to let you off with a warning once he sees you have a detector.
2)New technologies are in use (laser and instant-on) which challenge the capabilities of even the best detectors. Lesser detectors don't have a chance.
3)Other speed measuring practices are in common use such as pacing...which cannot be detected (except through your own eyes).
I've seen this detector in Costco at a very good price, but clearly it would be a waste of money at any price.
