The Bottom Line:
Avoid it.
I agree with the other 2 reviews that this is an easy-to-use, convenient, discreet and overall great package. There's plenty of convenience and options.... and a nice compass.
However, what good is all that when it doesn't do its primary job of detecting radar. I sent my first one back to the company under warranty because I thought it was defective. I've never seen a radar detector not go off until so close to a radar source.
I use it with no filtering and generally it alerts me well after I've seen the cop. I know sometimes it's an 'instant-on' situation... but even when bumper-to-bumper with a cop whose radar is on, the 'Silver Bullet' is still only at a '7' on its scale of 9. Maybe if I taped together the radar gun and detector, it would receive the highest number... I don't know.
This radar detector is good at letting you know you have been radar'ed. If it goes off and you're speeding, chances are good you will get a ticket.... Or at least if the cop decides you're speeding enough to turn around...
If you need a $150 compass, buy this. Otherwise, I think any cheap-o detector I've ever used has worked better.
