Cons bland at times, lack of apparent target audience, plot may be complicated for little kids

The crew at DreamWorks has come up with yet another CGI movie, and once again it became the highest grossing movie during its opening week. This time, the movie isn't about a green ogre and a fantasy world, on the contrary, it revolves around a fish named Oscar. Although it may seem like a "Finding... Read full review »

When I was growing up, there really weren't that many animated movies being made. Disney was the only studio that regularly released animated movies. One made by another studio would turn up every once in a while, but it wasn't that often. It is very different today. There are several animated... Read full review »

Will Smith Turns The Ocean into a Ghetto State

As an animated film, "Shark Tale" is an average film. It does nothing that makes it stand out or excel, when compared to other CGI created animated films. In fact if anything stands out about it, is how greatly flaccid it is. After... Read full review »

So, like every other parent of a preschooler or young school age child - my husband and I took our 3 1/2 year old son to see Shark Tale yesterday during the pouring rain. Initially we had hoped to attend the 6:30 showing but arrived to find out that it was sold out we picked up tickets for the 7:30... Read full review »

I am a sucker for animated films, I admit it. I appreciate the bright colors , the imaginative artwork, the simple story and the fact that I won't have to work hard to get it. I like to think the artists that create animated films can expand your world with their imaginations.

As of late, animated movies have been the king of the cinematic ocean. Beginning with 2001's Shrek, and continuing through films such as Monsters Inc., Ice Age, and last year's Finding Nemo, animated movies have delivered where many of Hollywood's supposed 'blockbusters' have not.

I just finished watching Shark Tale for the second time. At this point I had to admit that I really, really like this movie. It has been pretty unpopular with reviewers and parents but there is just something about it that makes me smile through most of the movie. Because of that, I will be going... Read full review »

From the creators of Shrek comes another 3-D animation that ventures into the underwater world, where the green light says "swim," traffic jams involve overturned mackerel and the popular clothing company, GAP, is more aptly named "GUP." "Shark Tale" manages to be too goofy when it tries to be... Read full review »

What do you get if you mix "Love Story" with "The Godfather" and "The Good Earth" and "Little Mermaid" and "Boys in the 'Hood"? You get this mildly amusing, moderately flawed, colorful, predictable movie called "Shark Tale."

Shark Tale [dvd] [full Frame] - Dvd

Will Smith brings hip-hop zest to the voice of Oscar, a fast-talking everyfish who rejects his life at the whale wash and longs for fortune and fame in this animated film from Dreamworks. A combination of FINDING NEMO and GOODFELLAS, here sharks are old-school gangsters who prey on the local citizenry and hang out in the wreck of the Titanic. Martin Scorsese does the voice of Mr. Sykes, Oscar's blowfish boss, who owes head Shark Don Lino (Robert De Niro) a lot of clams. Don Lino wants to turn over his reign to his two sons, but youngest Lenny (Jack Black) is a closet vegetarian. The plot thickens when Oscar takes credit for the accidental death of Lenny's brother, and suddenly finds the fame and fortune he's been seeking, only it's based on the lie that he's "the shark slayer." It's tough not to like this spunky fish story, especially with Scorsese and De Niro verbally one-upping each other in some hilarious bits. Also noteworthy: a pair of hilariously mellow Rastafarian jellyfish (Ziggy Marley and Doug E. Do
