The Bottom Line:
Buy this tv. Great price and all the features you and your kids will ever need.
Sharp makes solid products. I've owned a Sharp portable radio in the past and I still have fond memories of the sound it produced. This television is extremely well equipped for a price tag under $235.00, (Best Buy). What was important to me for my new television was:
1. S-Video and Component Video inputs and at least one AV input on the front of the set for my kid's Play Station.
2. A 27" stereo tv that had a width under 29" to fit into my older entertainment center.
3. Either digital or comb picture filtering.
4. Parental V-Chip technology.
5. Great picture, or course.
I thought I had found my tv at SAM'S Club, an RCA set, but when no one came to help me.....even after being paged....I walked out and headed to Best Buy. BTW...that RCA set was $248.00.
When I walked into Best Buy I ran into this set and was immediately convinced that this was the one......It offered all that I was looking for and the added function of 4:3 to 16:x ratio screen options for enhanced DVD viewing. This is new to me but it looks like they squish the picture into a letter box to make it sharper. Unfortunately, the picture looks just like that......squished. It may be helpful with different DVD formats though.....more to come. SHARP OFFERED ALL THESE FUNCTIONS FOR only $229.00! The remote is easy to use, I can run all the tv menus without the remote,(Important for when my kids loose the remote!), and the sound is good....which is fine because I'm pumping it through my stereo set. This tv has more input options than I need at this point which is a good thing....I'm a guy....it gives me an excuse to buy new electronic equipment!
WAY TO GO SHARP!
