The Bottom Line:
Awe-inspiring picture quality, great tech support, and a good manual make this a definite player in the HDTV market.
I bought the 55RWP5H soon after it replaced the 55RWP4H model in Sharp's product line. I bought it from Best Buy, and purchased the extended (5 year) warranty. We watch a LOT of DVD movies, and some TV over DirecTV. I chose it over the 61" model simply because it was a good deal less money.
What most impressed me was the picture quality of the DVD movies. TV is of course of a lesser quality, but while running in 1080i(auto) mode, it looks very good, and friends frequently comment on the TV picture quality. To really impress them, I then throw in Shrek or Toy Story 2.
With a progressive-scan DVD player, and the TV running on 540P, the picture quality is nothing short of amazing. An interlaced DVD player is best displayed at 1080i, where the TV itself does the pulldown. While it is hard to decifer the difference between the two (prog w/ 540P and interlaced with 1080i), a trained eye will quickly tell you that the progressive is better.
I would wholeheartedly recommend this TV over any in its class, or even some TVs that are much more expensive.
