What happens when your Sharp LCD has a fatal flaw.

Pros If it turns on, it looks good.
Cons If It won't turn on reliably, you may be offered a $$$ replacement at best.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Beware, your TV may only last a year. After a Sharp Supervisor contacted me and made a proposal to prorate our TV, we paid $390 for a replacement.
Our Winnebago RV came with a 32 inch Sharp LC-32D44U built in. The Sharp Aquos sometimes would seem to turn on, green power LED lit up, the channel display blinked quickly, then nothing but a dim navy screen. I called Sharp, and was told that the TV should not do that, a repair service in Spencer WI was dispatched, they removed the TV, took it to their shop, returned days later saying some "main board" was bad. Months later, same thing, rare at first, then frequently. Called Sharp, went through their reboot instructions (hold two buttons, unplug, etc) which was pretty much useless as the TV simply wouldn't really turn on. Since it was Sat., the call center rep said to call back next week. I did, and this time Sharp service adviced that since it's working today (a rare event, it worked that day) they wouldn't do anything, and by the way, since time has passed, they said it's now out of warrantee. I reasoned with her till I was blue in the face, but their representative, Tasha, simply said, it's out of warrantee now (1 yr.), "if you want to try to have it repaired (again) it will be at your expense from now on". So Sharp knows that their repair of the TV was only temporary, and a few months later they abandon you with a TV that was defective from Day one. Well, I asked to have a supervisor call, and one did a couple days later. I went over the issue, and he offered a prorated replacement. I agreed. It cost $390 to replace the TV with a current model that is a new LED/LCD version. I did need to remodel the RV slightly to accommodate the new model's slightly different dimensions. I returned the defective unit to Sharp, they paid the shipping. The supervisor, "Will" was courteous, and helped with finding a replacement amongst their many 32" models that would best fit my RV. I don't think $390 was any super deal for a replacement as I hear that LGs and Westinghouse units are soon out for $400-500, however Sharp list on the LC-32LS510UT is $799, and it came with another 15 month warranty. The moral of the story is, when your Sharp fails under warranty, you may have a TV that you'll throw in the trash after a year.
