I bought this machine on eBay for $71.00. It was 1 year old and did not have a remote. i was able to purchase the remote that goes with this item directly from Sharp. I bought this model because it had the hard drive and because I have a 32" Sharp Aquos LCD TV, I wanted compatibility and NO VCR. I am not an electronic wiz but found this item Very easy to use if you read the manual and experiment. I find out more relative to its functionality just about every time I work with it. I was somewhat hesitant to buy this item since it was used and did not have a remote, but when I found out what it is priced new or even refurbished i felt it was a good gamble. also I was able to get an extended warranty for 2 years for $10.95.
