The Canon PS A710 IS is a pocketable camera with a wide zoom range and a good amount of manual control. Easy to use and inexpensive camera with 6x optical zoom and lots of useful features, including optical image stabilization that prevents hand shake from making pictures blurry in dim light or at full zoom. Pictures quality are excellent. Canon claims 100 shots with supplied alkaline batteries, more than 300 with high-capacity NiMH rechargeable batteries. With 2 AA NiMH 2500mA batteries I've taken more than 230 pictures. The camera has full automatic as well as manual modes, including Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority. The Auto mode could do an average job of taking photos in most conditions. Also there is even Full Manual mode which I found here and liked the best. The camera can take photos at about one every two seconds without flash. But taking photos with flash is very slow; it takes 7-10 seconds for the camera to recycle its flash.
