I assume if I haven't noticed banding I don't have it
We have been very pleased with our 52D62U. Have had it for two months with no problems.
My only complains are that the remote is too slow and although we have a cable box we are getting a lot of digital and HD channels thought the analog cable. The digital channels are numbered with the dot...

After searching for a large screen HDTV, I narrowed to plasma or lcd. I ruled out plasma due to window reflection. Banding? Yes - Problematic? No.
There has been a LOT written about the severe banding issues with this set and its siblings, and some people have experienced SERIOUS banding visible during most viewing. Banding, banding, and more banding
I have now gone through three of these 52" sets. Every one of them has had dark thick vertical bands (about 5") and dark thin horizontal bands (about 1") in the picture. Big Screen Shopping Had Us Spinning...Now We're Thrilled
We had been researching and looking for a 50" large screen t.v. for the past six months and came very close to buying a plasma. After all, the continued price drops and far lower cost over the other competing technologies (LCD, DLP) seemed the best thing to do for our budget and needs.

Very disappointed!

Sharp service sucks
Had television for less then 90 days, watched news on Friday evening lifted it up to put on a table and the set was dead, some verticle pinstripes and one horizontal stripe and some spider webs in the lower center and we are told the LCD screen is broke and that even pressing a thumb on the screen...
