This is a fantastic display with only very minor problems.

Pros Great picture quality, multiple inputs make this the best in its class.
Cons Funny remote and no DVI input - small price to pay for quality.
Recommended it? Yes

When I set out to purchase a new television, I had no idea just how much work it would entail. I knew for sure that I wanted to replace my 32-inch Sony Trinitron with a flat-panel which supports 1920x1080p. I knew that I wanted to plug in my Mac Mini to use it as a monitor in my living room, and I... Read full review »

Pros A good buy
Cons Slow remote
Recommended it? Yes

We have been very pleased with our 52D62U. Have had it for two months with no problems.
My only complains are that the remote is too slow and although we have a cable box we are getting a lot of digital and HD channels thought the analog cable. The digital channels are numbered with the dot... Read full review »

Just what I wanted!

Pros Great color. Screen size is dramatic and great for all sports.
Cons Unfounded fear of banding and pixel mutiny. None so far (one week later).
Recommended it? Yes

After searching for a large screen HDTV, I narrowed to plasma or lcd. I ruled out plasma due to window reflection. LCD's were narrowed further due to the extreme cost of Sony for the same size screen. I was intimidated by a few reviews which wrote of banding issues in Sharp TVs. Banding? I have no... Pros Excellent picture, black levels, decent price for size, good support and commitment from...
Cons Banding potential, remote, viewing angle, only 2 HDMI inputs, no DVI input
Recommended it? Yes

There has been a LOT written about the severe banding issues with this set and its siblings, and some people have experienced SERIOUS banding visible during most viewing. The set I picked up with a 11/06 manufacture date has banding - if I'm looking at the service menu/gray screen (hard to miss) or... Read full review »

Pros Game console friendly. Longer expected life span. Lower power consumption. FAST refresh...
Cons Only 2 HDMI plugs. Picture quality is so high that broadcast technology hasn't...
Recommended it? Yes

I've read everyone's reviews of this TV and done my own bit of research prior to buying one. First off let me say this is by far one of the better TVs on the market, probably one of the best if you're looking for an LCD. It's game system friendly, BIG, and power bill friendly. There's no disputing... Read full review »

Banding, banding, and more banding

Pros Great picture, great black levels (if not-defective)
Cons banding, banding, and more banding
Recommended it? No

I have now gone through three of these 52" sets. Every one of them has had dark thick vertical bands (about 5") and dark thin horizontal bands (about 1") in the picture. While the banding patterns on each of the 3 sets was slightly different in each case, the problem was there in all three sets. If... Read full review »

Pros Exceptional HD picture quality, reputable brand, 52" size
Cons Not enough television stations broadcasting in HD yet, no PC input (most brands have this)
Recommended it? Yes

We had been researching and looking for a 50" large screen t.v. for the past six months and came very close to buying a plasma. After all, the continued price drops and far lower cost over the other competing technologies (LCD, DLP) seemed the best thing to do for our budget and needs.

Pros Great picture and color!
Cons Banding is very noticeable!!!
Recommended it? No

Besides the great picture this LCD has to offer, I'm not recommending this TV to anyone. Sure it's really nice but disappointed me real quick. The one I purchased had really bad banding on it. I was watching lady in the water HD-DVD and the banding was very noticeable. So do yourself a favor and do... Read full review »

Pros price
Cons unacceptable banding seems widespread

I've been shopping for a 50 inch tv and came upon the Sharp 52 inch at Best Buy. The price was good and I was getting excited that I may have found a good deal on a big set. I instantly noticed thin horizontal lines banding and easily seen in whites. I had never read anything on this tv so I was... Read full review »

Had television for less then 90 days, watched news on Friday evening lifted it up to put on a table and the set was dead, some verticle pinstripes and one horizontal stripe and some spider webs in the lower center and we are told the LCD screen is broke and that even pressing a thumb on the screen...
