Sharp Idea? i think not..
Pros
er..looks good..
Cons
CD + Md system failure (repeatedly), if you lose the remote it's hard to function the advanced functions on the machine
Recommended it?
No
I have had some bad experiences with this machine. When i first bought it, i thought it was the best stereo system i had ever bought. It had an MD and CD system, and it actually looked pretty good. This was my opinion for the first 4 days.
On the fourth day, the CD player decided not to work. I loaded a CD into the drive and all it said was "CD NO DISC." I flicked through the troubleshooting manual, and it says that the problem may be a dirty lens. Hmm, after four days, i was not impressed. I bought a CD lens cleaner to try and rectify the problem, yet to no avail, the CD reader kept on saying "CD NO DISC." Soo.. i phoned up Sharp's customer service and they said to bring in the machine for repair, and this was a common problem with this machine - and it would take two weeks to fix. Great. So i went down to the customer service, and to my disbelief, there was about 7 people with the same problem!!
Two weeks later, i pick up the stereo and take it home. It reads the first CD fine - but i load in another CD, and guess what. "CD NO DISC." So i went through the whole process again.
Now imagine this situation occuring FIVE times in a row. Every time i got my stereo back, the damn CD player kept on breaking!! And Sharp refused to give me a new stereo system.
Then, after about 5 months, the MD player decides to stop functioning as well - argh! The MD discs became trapped in the loading mechanism and the MD player would not read the MD at all. This is where i just gave up on the machine - After six months, with horrendous customer service, a pile of c**p stereo i decided that i would never EVER give my money to Sharp again.
I must also warn that this stereo doesn't go very loud - the bass really sucks on the speakers. If you lose the remote control, the stereo loses about 20 functions - not good.
The only thing that's good on this stereo is the looks of it - yeah, it looks alright, but thats it - Everything is doomed to fail on it! With the amount of people i saw in the waiting room at the customer service center (it looked like a vet's surgery with sick 'animals') I advise you to stray far, far far away from this machine. A complete waste of money.
