The Bottom Line:
Great addition to any professional Home Theater. Enjoy your movies like never before ;)
Great projector....if you really serious about your Home Theater than you are on right track. I was thinking some of those projectors in price range of 2-3K will do the work but unfortunately I was mistaken. I tested Cineza VPL-HS10 which have very similar parameters to SharpVision 9000 series but those extra 2 grand difference on the price tag comes to play if you compete their quality. I'm not gonna list all those detailed specs...you can find them here:

Ok, that's what I did....first I bought HDTV screen from Da-Lite company. Great screens for rear and front end projectors. Since my screen is located within the area when I need a lot of access to it, I decided to go with rolled down screen 1.5 gain 92x52 manual not remote controlled (saved me $500). Screen arrived and after 25 min installation I was ready to play ;)
At fist after test of Cineza I tought picture is very nice, sharp and crisp in both progressive resolutions 480p and 720p. But after I connected XV-Z9000U my jaw dropped. Tested on Sony Cineza VPL-HS10 picture from DVD had some little barely noticable artifacts and some pixelations, but on SharpVision it's gone! Thanx to build-in 2D/3D progressive scan line doubler picture is smooth and sharp even in low resolutions.
Basically it works that way. Low quality signal from regular SAT or Cable is upscaled to 480P through progressive scan filter. Of course if original signal is very poor quality you can't expect miracles but at least you don't see any artifacts caused normally by interlaced TV signals. You can always upgrade your SAT receiver to HDTV version and enjoy fully your new toy, but since I watch TV on my 42" plasma I don't want to waiste precious hours of my lamp to watch TV. So I connected DVD player through component cable and I started testing again.
I played couple different movies to check how SharpVision will respond to fast-slow motions and different type of flics.
I played "Shrek", "The Beach" and "Gladiator". I can only say WOW. Picture is very sweet, sharp and colors are just perfect. A lot depends of your HT setup with light conditions but even with dimmed lights behind me picture was very bright and contrast was perfect.
If you think you can get more from your projector, you are RIGHT! In higher resolutions 720P and 1080i XV-Z9000U gives you incredible nice picture a little bit but noticable sharper than 480P. My suggestion is to use 720P instead of 1080i because it's progressive and when playing fast-motion movies that can help you a lot to get maximum from your projector. For 720P or any HDTV resolution I used regular PC computer. You can also look for special HDTV card for PCs which goes around $299 but I'm satisfied even with 480P DVD resolution quality.
Just go to the store and check it out. I bet you'll like it.
