OK but not great - unit, service, technology

Pros Large display, easy to setup, "Sirius Disorder" worth the price alone
Cons Cheaply made parts broke after 9 months. Support is hard to reach.
Recommended it? Yes

This is sort of a three-way review of the Sirius Sportster unit itself, Sirius's service, and satellite radio service overall.

An unexpected birthday gift for my 40th birthday - I was very excited about the Sirius Sportster.
Signing up for service was pretty simple, but I was not... Read full review »

2.5 years later...

bypresbychic Mar 13, 2008
9 Helpfuls 10 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Easy to use, survives my child's abuse, remote control, good reception overall
Cons A little bulky, yet another thing to plug into a dc outlet
Recommended it? Yes

As a person who drives long distances regularly, I have truly enjoyed my Sportster over the past 2.5 years.

I bought it while living in a VERY small rural town because I was tired of fighting to get a clear signal on the radio and have since moved to a thriving state capital (figuring I... Read full review »

So far, so good

Pros Great sound, nice features
Cons Form factor is a little large, cable runs can be tricky
Recommended it? Yes

I just bought the Sportster 2 days ago, so not a lot of time to see any problems yet. I purchased it as Radio Shack and Sirius seems to have some price controls in place and there are no deals to found. I compared the Starmate, Sportster and Sportster Replay. I liked the features of the Sportster... Read full review »

Pros Easy to set up, easy to use, lots of stations
Cons Long trip require reprogramming the FM station sometimes
Recommended it? Yes

I was able to take it out of the box and install it in my car without a professional! Setting up service was easy and took only about 10 minutes. The radio quality is great and the channels selections are endless. Read full review »

love it - I'll never go back to FM

bykarenhim Jan 31, 2006

Pros Howard Stern, Dave Ramsey and Elvis!
Cons Antenna must remain attached to receiver. Not too portable inside house.
Recommended it? Yes

I read the manual and installed the Sportster in our car and home in about 1 hour - with little ones underfoot at home, even.

Resetting the FM frequency on long trips is no big deal. It's worth the trouble to keep all those great talk and music channels with us on the road. I can't... Read full review »

a RADIO review, not a Sirius review

Pros None. Well, it IS cheap.
Cons Breaks after 1 year. Doesn't hold a signal. Hard-to-use signal selection switch.
Recommended it? No

All of the other reviews for this radio are for the Sirius service, or from people who have just bought and installed the radio. I've had the radio for 2 years and HATE it.

Yes, it's (relatively) easy to install. Yes, Sirius is great. However, this radio is a cheap piece of tat. Mine has... Read full review »

Love my Sportster

byrydaldude Oct 6, 2006
3 Helpfuls 4 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Song alert, Team alert, Score alert, large display
Cons No artist alert
Recommended it? Yes

I absolutely love my sirius and the sportster. I like the big display showing the song title and artist. Moreover, you can get game alerts for the NHL, NFL, and NBA. Seeing the scores on the screen can allow me to listen to music and get score updates. Read full review »
