Squeezebox not ready for primetime!

Pros great sound quality big bright display supports FLAC files wireless music which (kinda) works
Cons frequent audio dropouts on playback complicated configuration expensive! not very good tech support
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  While the squeezebox looks and (sometimes) sounds impressive, several technical issues stop it from being as easy and straightforward to use as it should be. Not recommended.
I bought the squeezebox to wirelessly stream music from my PC to my stereo after reading a few positive reviews online. I love the fact that you can browse/play music either directly from your computer or using the supplied remote. The squeezebox display is big and bright and the sound quality is really good (especially high-bitrate MP3s and FLAC files), when it works correctly.
The real issue I have had with my squeezebox is that it does not work correctly all the time. It often has significant dropouts and gaps in its playback and its internet radio streaming performance (both directly and indirectly) is haphazard at best.
The configuration nightmares I have had with the squeezebox means it has taken me several months (with some limited slimdevices tech support) to get the squeezebox to perform anywhere near what the manufacturer claims on their website.
It definitely is not as easy as they claim to get it working in just any wireless networking setup - so don't believe the hype.
Currently my squeezebox runs on BETA drivers - it was the only way to get everything working correctly but the performance is still patchy.
As beautiful a device as the squeezebox is, I don't think it is ready for primetime. Its complicated configuration, patchy performance and luke-warm technical support make it hard to recommend this to just anybody.
Early adopters, toy-tinkerers and network engineers unite!
Everybody else, wait until something comes out that is truly plug and play.
