Needs bigger buttons or I need smaller fingers

Pros Combines many remotes into one, Price is reasonable, Backlight function works well.
Cons Buttons are too small and too close together, Too many buttons on the remote.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Better programmable Tivo remote? NAY! Nice try but these buttons are too small. Hard to read and easy to press the wrong function. Maybe next time.
I have always been searching for the perfect remote to combine all the functions of my many components. I've tried the HK/MS remote, All in Ones, Sony, etc and none of them ever seemed to do it all. The new 688 sure looked like it would finally do the job and I was very optimistic since I own an H768 remote and love it. When the 688 was released, I immediately found a vendor and ordered one. Got it, programmed it (not hard to do except for trying to register two remotes online with Harmony, tip... create a second account with a new screen name), tried it out for a weekend, boxed it up and sent it back for a refund. I was horribly disappointed. Harmony has tried to do stuff way too many buttons on the remote control. I continually hit the wrong button when trying to do some of the Tivo functions like MENU, EXIT, and GUIDE. The emulation of my Onkyo remote was also annoying since I had to scroll through 5-6 screens to find the settings for surround modes and inputs. I concluded that you just can't ask for an all in one remote to be small and have all the same functions of all your remotes combined without going to a custom programmable model such as the made Philips Pronto models. I'll keep looking and hoping but as for the SST-688, I would give it a thumbs down.
