Rio ReplayTV 5508 (80 GB) 80-Hours DVR

I have been a Replay owner for several years and my particular unit has worked well. So as a holiday gift,I purchased a Replay model RTV 5508 in early December 2003 from PCNation. The unit would not boot. PCNation refused to accept the defective merchandise because by the time the recipient plugged it in after the holidays, it exceeded PC Nation's short return time frame. I then turned to the manufacturer (Digital Networks of North America) who finally, after much discussion, agreed to send a "refurbished" unit, if I paid to ship the defective unit to Texas...which I did. After a month or so, I received the replacement refurbished unit and after many hours of effort, including twice resetting the unit to default settings, determined that this unit was also defective. I called Replay (toll call) and they informed me that I would have to pay for the repair! This was Replay's position on a unit that has yet to work for a 24 hour period.

After blowing my top, Replay finally agreed to replace the unit with yet another "refurbished" unit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
