The Bottom Line:
I have been happy with the operation and picture of the monitor and extremely satisfied with Sony's service, just concerned that product is plagued by various issues.
Purchased this unit in November, 2005. DVI input board was DOA. Being a commercial unit, took some time to get a hold of someone that would/could help me but once I did they were very pleasant and extremely helpful(Jeff 800/8836817 ext 5217). Within days I received a replacement unit from Sony and they picked up the old monitor a few days later. This all took approximately 1 week.
Everything fine with the new unit, great picture, no problems until April 23, 2007 when the monitor made a loud "popping" noise and the picture went out. Called Sony (866) 766-9272, Opt 2 on April 24, 2007 and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Roy. I explained the problem and he was immediately able to determine the problem. The display board went out and was no longer covered under warranty as the panel warranty is 1yr. Roy asked if I would hold a minute so he could contact their San Diego office. When he came back on he advised that he had gotten approval to handle as a warranty repair and that someone would be contacting me within the next 7-10 days to arrange delivery of a box to pack it in so that it could be shipped back.
Amazingly the call came the very next day and the monitor picked up the day following; April 25th. I called Sony in San Diego (858) 942-5568, on April 27th and the monitor had already been repaired and would ship out as soon as it had cleared it's quality control inspection.
Received a call today, May 1st. Monitor is being delivered between 11am and 2pm.
Service issues; absolutely not. I can't say one bad word about the service and have gone through the process two times now. As for the durability and dependability of the product, well that's another matter.
