LOW END DSLR : AGREE

Pros better then the 828 and just like the a100
Cons nothing to write home about but decent
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  I would not recommend this as a great dslr. As a starter its fine though. Its a tad slow indoors and white balance could be better
the person who wrote this was a low end dslr, is who I have to agree with. I was disappointed in the photo quality from this camera under certain conditions. Its like a high end prosumer camera and a decent startup dslr. I recently got my hands on this camera and also the Sony 828. Some people on ebay are going to be mighty disappointed with the Sonyf- 828 because progress has made giant leaps since that camera came out. The A100/A200 is a much better camera but still don't equal in my opinion the low end models of DSLR from Canon or Nikon. The camera had a hard time getting good low light shots without flash. The camera often under exposed or over exposed. I think the menu was unnecessarily complicated and should have had another dial instead. When in optimum conditions the camera performed well. In low light and without flash it was a  disappointment considering this was suppose to be better then the A100. Truthfully this camera is worth $250 dollars with the lens. I actually think their own point and shoots at 12 megapixel are better except for the noise. If you have a anti noise program you would do way better getting a dscw 220. The lens is not as big (drats) too, but the shots are crisper and and easier to get great shots. I wouldn't say the A200 is a waste of fine Sony technology but a decent slrd that should have done a bit better. In addition the shots are often a tad unsharp and without exact shutter settings correct or f stop correct allot of blurring. Finally the white balance indoor was not good, especially in bulb setting. It reminded me of white balance from years back not one would expect on a dslr.
Of course you could use custom white balance but even that made the color a notch brighter then they really were.
