The Bottom Line:
If you can find one for less than a Rebel XTi, get it.
The 200 is a redesign of the Alpha 100, but still accepts the same lenses (and, in fact, Minolta lenses in general, since Sony bought Minolta). So there's a broad variety of addons available.
All in all, I'm pleased with the camera; it takes reasonable rapid-fire shots (3 per second for as long as the card can handle it in JPG mode), the menus are clear and easy to understand, and the picture quality is great at reasonable ISO's (800 and below). The automatic mode (and, indeed, aperture-priority and shutter-priority modes) results in good pictures 95% of the time (the other 5% being in situations with weird light effects, like shooting pictures of the moon). The stock lens is good for a variety of uses, ranging from near-macro quality closeups and telephoto shooting on the long end, to landscape photography on the short end.
However, a major downside; unless you change a setting buried in the menus (disabling noise processing), shots taken with long shutter speeds will result in the camera "processing" (taking a baseline shot to note areas of noise, like dust particles) for as long as the shutter was open (so your 30-second shot of the setting moon... becomes a 60-second shot!).
Additionally, even though the camera offers 1600 and 3200 ISO as an option, those ISO levels tend to be a bit noisy.
