I bought the Sony CDP-C235 approximately seven years ago. I played this CD player all the time. It lasted me through four years of college. I listen to music constantly during the day, while I sleep and any other hour possible. I definitely got my money's worth.
This was one of my first stereo components that I bought. I also bought the STR-D311 receiver at the same time to go with it. I didn't know much about what I was looking for at the time but I chose a good CD player when I chose this one.
This CD player is a five disc changer with a carousel set up. The normal features are available like shuffle, continue and replay. You can also set your own play list with the programming button. Some of the extra features are Fade which allows you to fade a song out and music scan so you can hear the beginnings of all the songs on a CD. There is also a feature where you can directly input the track number instead of scrolling through the list.
I would guess that I have well over 5,000 hours logged on this CD player over the past seven years. With the exception of the past year I have had no problems at all. In the past year I have noticed a ringing coming from the machine while a cd is playing. I've tested it with several receivers, speakers and wires so I know it's the CD player. My only guess is that it's from over use. If you're think you will use it for more than 5,000 hours this is your warning. If you're not as avid a listener this CD player could be for you.
