Sony lasers are garbage!

I like the concept of the CD changer and when it works it's pretty dang cool. But I had my Sony player barely used, sitting in a cool, dry place, safely padded in the box, hadn't been touched for two and a half years and then I finally went to set it up in my new place. Put in a couple cd's and it didn't read them.
Long of the short is that the laser was dead. I talked to a couple people with experience in electronics and every one of them said that the Sony lasers are crap!
It cost me an arm and a leg to get a new laser installed.
Would've just thrown it out but then I'd have to start from scratch. Could've bought a quality used one elsewhere.
Should've stayed away from Sony in the first place, they know full well that their lasers are crapola. It's called planned obsolescence! And yet people still maintain this belief that Sony equals quality ----BLAH!
