TURN UP.....THE RAAADIO!

Pros Convenience of storing 200 CD's; excellent sound; value for money
Cons difficult to enter artist titles; cumbersome size; sometimes jams CD's in back of player
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you are looking for a replacement to a burned-out unit, or want to upgrade to a mega-changer, this is the one for you!
I bought the Sony CX-235 about a year ago, and I must say, I am very happy with the decision. The over-all performance of the player is outstanding. The simple fact that you can store a boat-load of titles is reason enough to own the player, but the fact is, this is a great piece of equipment. I want to adapt it for my car, so I never have to be without it! One of the greatest features of the player is that you can assign groups to certain CD's, and only play those particular CD's in that group. It is awesome for parties. You can set the tone for the evening, and keep it going all night without ever having to touch the thing, and you can customize the tunes to the type of crowd you have over!

There is one sure-fire problem that I have encountered with my player. Occasionally, while searching for a title using the scrolling wheel, the CD's that are in the back of the player will catch on something, and start pulling them out of the housing. They then begin to pile up in a mess of musical chaos. You must reach your hand in, trying to contort yourself in every conceivable angle, looking like a game of Twister gone very awry. When you are finally at the point of fetching the stack of CD's gathered in the farthest reaches of the machine, you must then negotiate the way out. If you have managed NOT to scrape the crap out of every $40 imported CD you have (of course, the $2.95 truck stop "remember the 80's" CD's are completely unscathed), you may now attempt to re-load the snarling giant. But I digress. That scenario has only happened twice in the entire time I have owned it. I don't know if it is a character trait of the player, or I just won the lemon award.

The player allows you to enter the titles of the CD's on the display, which is a wonderful option, but inputting the info is tedious at best. You must use the remote to input the info the quickest way, which is a contradiction in terms. It is a slow process, but once you get the hang of it, it is a very handy tool. You have many search options, as well as play options. The quality of the laser pick-up is tremendous. This machine is one Ferrari in a land of Pinto's. I HIGHLY recommend this piece of equipment, and at the price tag, truly provides value for the money. So crank up the tunes, grab a keg, a bunch of friends, and party like it's.....2099??!!
