I bought two of them!!

Pros Quiet, Attractive
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes
Outstanding quality! We own a bunch of CD's and my many attempts at organizing them were dismal failures. I had been watching the prices drop on the 300 CD changers, and planned to get one, load it up, and build a database on my PC so I could find and play 'em. (I was tired of listening to the same 5 CD's in my old changer). I really like Sony's ES line (I own the DA-333ES receiver), so when the prices dropped several months ago I bought the CX333ES based primarily on my experience with my receiver. The Digital-to-Analog Converter unit is better than on the non-ES model - certainly better than on the Panasonic, Kenwood, and JVCs - and more importantly, it is QUIET when it selects another CD! Many CD changers "clatter" loudly when turning their carousel to another CD... this can be very disconcerting after listening to a nice selection of music.

When loading it, I found I had 295 CD's... no room for growth there. So after using it a couple of weeks I bought a second one. (By the way, they can be bought mailorder for $400-$450... I paid $400 each for mine.)

Now that I had my CD's loaded, how do I know what's where? Use the supplied "CD Binders?" Write a database application for my PC? Doing searches on the Internet I located and purchased a ready-made PC application that CONTROLS THE TWO CHANGERS AND MY RECEIVER! This is a phenomenal piece of extremely easy-to-use software that requires no cable connections to the changers - it uses infrared signals. Info on this software can be found at www.graywolfsoftware.com.

More about the CX333ES: it is quiet, sturdy, has given me no problems... you can connect a keyboard to enter titles (but only 13 characters... that is not a very long title!) There is an optical output, so you can feed digital signals directly to an MD recorder or an Audio CD recorder. As with any of the other manufacturers' CD players you can build and save playlists, random shuffle CD's, etc., but with my Graywolf Software I don't ever have to touch ANY of the front panel controls... it even turns the unit on and changes the volume!
