For the price, a real bargain

The Bottom Line:
If you need mass CD storage and you have the room, this is very good value for money.
I have over 400 CDs, and I never listen to a lot of them. I bought this changer to solve that problem, and I'm very happy with it.
It took two evenings to fill it up (make sure you have a PC keyboard handy!) but once that is done it is a great device - just hit shuffle, and you will hear many songs that you had forgotten!
Here are a few sticky points that may or may not affect your buying and user experience:
- Make sure you categorize each CD as you enter it, as it allows you to later shuffle within groups (I always put on the Mellow category in the morning :)
- Don't place a speaker on top of the unit or put it on an unsolid surface, as the player is more sensitive to skips that way. It plays most CDs fine, but there are a lot of moving parts in there!
- The search tool is a little primitive - rather than group titles truly alphabetically, it groups them into unsorted first letter groups. What that means is that when you search, all the CDs beginning with "A" are first, but each of the CDs in the "A" group are unsorted.
- The CD change time is pretty significant. I would recommend buying a second player and hooking them up to allow for their inbuilt instant play feature. I'm thinking of doing this and splitting the 2 boxes to take about 200 each.
- This unit is *big*. It's a little deceptive in the store, because the real size problem is the depth of the unit. I had to buy a separate new table just for the changer! Get your measuring tape out before you buy!
All in all, I'm very glad I got it. It's a great thing to just put on in the background - it surprises me every day with old music that I had long forgotten. Plus I was able to clear away all those jewel cases!
