The Bottom Line:
If you are a serious collector of CDs and love high quality sound, this is the changer for you!
Sony CDP-M555ES 400-Disc CD Changer looks like the biggest, baddest compact disc changer on the block. And rightfully so, this baby has a lot of boom to it.
I made this purchase for myself, I was in dire need of storage more than anything. I have hundreds of discs and the jewel cases take up way too much space. I knew exactly what I wanted when I went to the store and I left with it in tote.
This disc changer is like no other on the market. Other companies have made similar products but Sony's sound quality and disc playback are unbeatable.
It holds 400 compact discs. You heared me 400 discs and all of them are programmable. You can create files, it offers Advanced MEGA Control for up to 800 Discs, memory for up to 800 discs which is unbelievable. I cant remember over 40 of my CDs much less 800!
You can enter artists names/or titles for each disc, program your player for regular functions like repeat, playback, or shuffle. You can also make a directory of discs so there is no need to return to the player to change artists or titles.
It offers 8 lists, 32 Track Hit List Capability, Disc Memo/Scan/Search , you can access discs by artists names, and you can also use a keyboard to preprogram your CD changer. These few features make this product almost absolute at this time. And you will pay for it. However...
The Sony CDP-M555ES 400-Disc CD Changer has eight Pulse D/A Converters, an adjustable coefficient filter, a full feed forward digital feeder, Onscreen Graphical User Interface, and so much more.
The display is a flouresent blue, it has a ez-play/ez-eject system, a cross fade, no delay play, 100+ disc switch for quick access to your discs, and an on screen user interface. The keyboard input is very cool-although I cannot do it myself. My neighbor is the handy man and he comes around every so often to make sure my electronics are in check.
Most of this sounds like mumbo jumbo. And to me while listening to the pitch of the salesman it was all pitch. But once I got it home and tore that box open I was all too happy with what I had bought.
It has a gold fixed line input, a second line input, an optical output, which made connecting all these components to my system a lot faster and the quality was much higher.
The sound is amazing. I used my 2-10s and 2-12s speakers for surround sound running through my CD player to my big screen. The sound quality was amazing. No matter if it were on tuner, CD, VHS, it sounded like a real theater without leaving the house.
Of course it is set up with all the modes of stereo-which you will want to use depending on how you are using your system. If you are gaming, or watching DVDS you need to tune it to the correct setting. It has inputs for each speaker so all four do not have to run at once which can be quite noisy if you are playing a game or watching a scary movie.
Sony backs their products with an awesome warranty, all of my electronics, down to my Walkman, are Sony. This one has a 5 year limited, that I bet you will never need to use.
This CD storage unit gets an A+. You may pay the price for all the features but you get quality sound for anything from games to music. And if you are a music buff like me, it gives you a place to store all your compact discs where you can easily find them with a turn of a button, and BAM up pops the name of the band and or title.
The one drawback, programming all the CDs into the changer. It takes forever. The newer CDs already are preprogrammed but if you like 70's music your fingers will get tired. Since that is the ONLY drawback to this changer, I think it was well worth what I spent since I plan on having it around for a very long time.
Oh yeah, you even get a remote~after setting this puppy up you will have a good time playing with the remote!
