First lets jump into the features and goodies. The sound Quality is truly superb and amazingly Crisp and clear. You can connect this machine into and or with another currently existing CD Player, and make the supplied remote function between the two. Again this machine can hold 300+ CD's. It accomplishes this feat by using what is known as High Density Linear Converter System. This simply means that there is a rotary table with slots cut in it, your CD stands up in these slots. Due to the width of a CD, great capacity can be accomplished.
The Display is quite unique in itself. First it tells you the CD you are currently playing, Track, and Time. Above the time is the next CD to play in the order that has been chosen. If no order has been chosen, then it just continues onto the next CD. Certain CD's have CD TEXT. CD TEXT discs' have information, such as the disc titles or artist names, memorized in a blank space on the discs where, on normal discs there is no information. This CDP can Display the Band, CD Title, or Song name. Secondly You can even select the language of the CD TEXT information.
You can choose a direct CD to play by just remembering the numbered slot it is in. You simply input the position, and the CDP will select and play. You can Specify the NEXT disc to play while playing a disc in continuous or 1 disc shuffle play mode. You can locate a specific track or point in a Track. Then of course there are the other basic functions REPEAT and RANDOM(Shuffle).
There is even the ability to Create you OWN program play. You can select this programed play whenever you would like, per say you have company over and have a perfect little selection of party music, just set it and walk away.
The supplied controller can be programed to control Another CD player. You even have the ability to LABEL discs and put it into the memory. You can name the disk, or label it in any way you want. This can be either done manually with the machine, or remote control, or even by hooking you keyboard up to the port located infront of the CDP. There is also the storage of certain tracks. Another great feature is the ability to Group Discs. I grouped up my metal, and softer type musics. This came into good use when i had my different musical friends over. Finally there the good 'ole favorites on almost each CD that someone has. This machine allows for you to store you Favorite tracks into a "Hit List", this List stays until you yourself erase it.
There are always downfalls to something, whether you see it or not. Although this machine has been my favorite over the many I have used along with my father. It is much LARGER than any of the other machines we have shared. It took more room than what we would have thought. It generates a small amount of heat, nothing to worry about by itself, but if stacked upon multiple other electrical components, maybe an extra muffin fan could help things out. The only other problem I have ever had with this machine is the fact that if im looking for a certain CD, sometimes I forget where I had put it, and it takes alittle time going through 300 CD's. Over all this machine is truly great, and I thank my Father and Sony!
