Great CD Player For 4X4's

Pros ESP, excellent tuner
Cons none yet
Recommended it? Yes
If you want to listen to CDs in your 4X4 when driving off the beaten path, give the CDX-680 a try. I installed one on a new 350 super duty 4X4 several months ago and like the results. Not only is this a very good Cd player, but you also get a remarkable FM receiver that will pull in stations you didn't know existed!

The 680 has lots of amenities : detachable faceplate, 30 station memory, CD text, electronic shock protection (ESP), CD/MD changer control, fold down face, 180 watts (45 X 4) of power, subwoofer out, shuffle and repeat play, great tuner (SSIR-EX tuner with adaptive reception - same tuner that's on the top of the line Mobile ES units), optional remote control, etc.

The ESP works great on bumpy roads (no annoying CD skipping), the tuner picks up every FM station for what must be several states, and it all sounds good - even with the Ford's factory speakers.

I bought it at Netmarket for $260 and got the wireless remote at Crutchfields for $30, so it's pretty affordable. It was also easy to install using the Metra kit ($16 at Netmarket).
