Sony CDX-GT610UI

Pros Lots of input options USB, iPod, audio jack and Satellite Radio ready.
Cons The USB connection is on the front of the unit so things stick out.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you're looking to hook lots of things to your car stereo then you can't go wrong with this.

I recently purchased the Sony CDX-GT610UI and it's a great product.

I was just looking for a stereo to replace the aging manufacturer stereo in my car. I wanted to be able to add Satellite Radio later on. My wife also has an iPod that I wanted her to be able to use. I wasn't looking to add external amplifiers or even change the speakers (2 rear, 2 door).

This fit the bill and then some.

The iPod connection let's you control the iPod through it. You'll see the music tags on the stereo display. The sound is good. Just remember to have the iPod turned off when you plug in the unit. You won't be able to control the iPod if it's turned on before you plug it in.

The USB connection works great. I have a PDA that uses SD cards and I had a SD to USB converter stick. I've plugged in 2Gb SD cards using this with no problems.

The one thing I haven't gotten yet is the Satellite Radio. I have enough to keep my busy for awhile before getting that!

Playing music from MP3 disks or from the USB supports playing by album/folder or the whole device. It will play songs sequentially or randomly. I especially like the random play using 2Gb in the USB slot!

This stereo sounds great. It blows away the old stereo I had.

A final note. The picture on this page when I wrote this review is of the CDX-GT610U and not the CDX-GT610UI. The UI has a blue display. Not a red one! Also the UI has the auxiliary input on the front. The CDX-GT610U doesn't.
