Cool deck, wrong colours
Pros
Remote, looks cool (when closed)
Cons
Bright when open, smooth surface can be scratched. Shows finger prints easily.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you're an Audiofile that tends not to touch the deck, this is for you. If you have greasy hands and bad luck, don't touch.
Firstly, the sound quality that this deck affords is stunning. I was really taken aback about this. It's louder in my car at half volume than my previous Sony. It gets painful past that point.
Secondly, what was Sony thinking when they were deciding the colours this deck would use? Sure, the Active Black panel screens are cool (if a bit distracting if you don't turn them off when driving), but when the thing is open... who thought red and that colour blue would go well together?
That brings me to my next point: this system begs to have a dimmer switch or something. When the face is flipped down and you're driving at night, the LCD lights up the entire inside of the car, making it difficult to drive. Out of necessity, I tend to leave it closed during night highway driving and try to use the remote.
The flip face worries me. The little motor sounds like it's not very happy when it flips the face around.
