The Bottom Line:
If you're looking for an inexpensive CD Player w/ Great sound & Looks, This is the way to go! I guarantee it! You won't be disappointed!
Ok, Let me start off by warning the reader, This isn't a review, This is a freaking FANBOY STATEMENT! Well, Ok, maybe not, As I hate most everything Sony. But this one is the exception to the rule. I have owned my CFD-V177 for approximately 8 years. It has never given me problems. NEVER! It was given to me by my Dad, As a Christmas present. The user interface is Straight forward, No weird menus to navigate, No fancy Equalizer functions.(Except Sony's ubiquitous MEGA BASS system)I don't hardly use the cassette deck anymore, As I've moved over to CD's and MP3's completely. That's not to say this thing is MP3-capable though. It is NOT. Sure, If you've got a program on your computer that converts MP3's into something playable on any cd player, Then it will play it.(Sonic RecordNow Works best for this)But when it comes to playing CD's, This thing ROCKS! Nice and clear, The Speakers are Ideally suited for this Application, As I've never had any complaints over the sound quality. For a while, Mine kinda got neglected, As I built a Home theater system for my bedroom, lol! It kicked butt, but it just took up too much space, And I didn't really need it much. So, I took the Theater apart, And the CFD-V177 was kickin' my butt again! Ah, What a good pain it was! I've never used anything else since then. So, If you find a CFD-V177 for sale, SNATCH IT UP! QUICK! Or you will have the misfortune of missing one of the best portable CD Players ever made! That is, If it's in Good condition. I'm always looking for the V177, In Thrift shops, Yard Sales, And other places, Because I buy each and everyone I see, LOL. They came in 4 different colors, Translucent Blue, Translucent Green, Translucent Grey, And Translucent Silver. If you buy it, I hope you love it, As much as I love mine.

Update! My CFD-V177 still lives! It has now taken permanent residence at the back of of my current employer's building, Riverboat Lanes. It's louder than the Pinsetters. I took it to work because it fares better there than it does at home. It's still in awesome condition.
