I LOVE my Sony Cyber-Shot Digital Camera!

byjro26 Jan 30, 2011
Pros Everything an SLR has with the ease of a point and shoot.
Cons Price is a little high for the standard point and shoot budget.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I highly recommend this camera, I would buy it again for myself, I would buy it for someone as a gift!  I trust Sony and their quality standards.
A year and a half ago I decided to by myself a new camera, I found the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H20 on Amazon for 50% off and decided that was the best camera for the price.  I have had two other, albeit less inexpensive, Sony Cyber-Shot cameras and was very happy with them.  This Sony is a point-and-shoot camera but has all the full features of a more expensive SLR camera. This isn't the slimmest due to the lens but it will easily fit in your purse.

One of the neatest features it has is the smile shutter technology.  If you press the smiley face button on the camera it will snap a picture whenever it detects a smile on someones face.  You can imagine how well this works if you set the camera on a tripod and tell your kids to try and smile to make the camera take pictures of them!

With 10.1 mega pixel resolution, 10x optical zoom with a Carl Zeiss lens you will be sure to get perfect pictures that can be blown up well past an 8x10.  On My last cyber-shot camera I mailed it in because the lens stopped working.  They replaced it for free and mailed it back.  That is one of the many reasons I decided to stick with Sony.  The rechargeable battery will last you at least 300 photos, many days worth of photos even while on vacation.

If you don't have a steady hand this camera has a steady shot which will delay the picture while waiting for it to stabilize.  The display is a large 3 inches, a huge upgrade from my last camera.  Tons of menu options that you can utilize on the camera to edit your images.  You can change them to black and white, add a smile to someone who may not have smiled in the picture, trim the photo, remove red eye, sharpen, blur, monochrome, apply fisheye, starburst, or radial blur, as well as move pictures around into different folders.

If you are unsure of how to operate a cameras settings you can turn the setting dial to "easy" and not have to change anything.  You can switch it to scene and chose from Soft Snap, Advanced Sports Shooting, Landscapes, Portraits, Low Light, Natural Food Shot (I LOVE taking pictures of my recipes and food in restaurants!), Waterside Scene, Whitish Scene, Fireworks, and ISO High Sensitivity. There are an Intelligent Auto Setting, Program Auto, Manual Exposure Setting, and Video mode. I am always amazed at how well this takes pictures in low light, with no flash if you have a steady hand.  This camera continues to amaze me with pictures turning out way better than expected.
