Sony T-20

byhc000 Jan 4, 2008
Pros Good quality pictures Lots of features Quick retake time Small, compact
Cons Uses Sony's Pro DUO memory stick Price (expensive compared to other camera of similar features)
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Buy it, if it is your first camera or 3rd, you won't regret it!
This is the third digital camera I have used. My first was a Canon SD100 (3MP), second was Olympus 7MP. Just to give a background of my experiences. I have owned the Sony T20 for around 1 months now and have taken over 500 pictures and 10+ videos.

The Good

The camera is really easy to use for beginners, with the easy menu and layout. There are 3 modes for shooting still pictures. One is auto where you choose the type of scene you want and it will decide all of the relevant settings. And there are the more complex where you can choose all of your settings. like background color, distance, exposure, flash, light setting, and timer.

The video mode has 2 settings, normal, and high quality. I find that when using high quality even the 4GB memory card fills up fast, however the quality is indeed good. Way better then my other cameras and a notch above my (640x320) web cam. There is no limit in how long the clips can be, just the size of your memory stick.

The Bad

If the pictures was taken in full 8 Mega Pixel , the size for each picture is 2 to 3MB. That is insane; way too big to send to anyone. And after 500 pictures, they take up 1GB of my hard drive. So be warned if taking it at full resolution. The quality is good, however I find that taking pictures with 5 mega pixel is generally enough. The memory card also cost more then SD cards. Be warned!
