My Daughter Loves Her Discman
Pros
Easy to use! Great Sound!
Cons
Skips alot, doesn't come with recharger
Recommended it?
Yes
We bought the Sony D-171C Discman for my daughter several months ago, after finding a great price for it at a local electronics store. My daughter is 11 years old and we wanted to get her something that was fairly easy to use, and durable. We were not concerned with getting any fancy features.
My daughter takes her Discman everywhere! She loves to carry it around with her earphones on, and her collection of her favorite CD's.
The one feature this Discman does not come with, that we wished it would have is the Anti-Skip feature. The Sony D-171C does skip alot. You have to make sure not to have any dust or dirt on the CD, and you have to hold it just right or otherwise it can skip.
The Sony D-171C features 22 track programming which lets you customize how the tracks are played, It comes with an AC adapter & headphones, though it does not come with a recharger, which we did go out & buy later. This Discman uses 2 "AA" batteries that last about 12 hours, depending on the type of battery you use.
The case seems fairly durable, and this Discman has gone through lots of use from my daughter.
I recommend the Sony D-171C to anyone in the market to buy a starter CD player. This is great for beginner, though those people looking for alot of features, and bells & whistles may want to look into a higher end model.
This is a great gift to give a pre-teen or teenager for a birthday or other special occasion.
